Description: The mission of the Washington Area Women's Foundation is to "foster a powerful wave of philanthropy to improve the lives of all women and girls in the Washington Metropolitan Area" through: -Donor education and engagement -Grantmaking -Customized technical assistance to grantees -Public awareness programs
Mission: The Washington Area Women's Foundation was founded in 1997 by a diverse and committed group of women who came together to improve the lives of women and girls in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Realizing that the well-being of this country is directly related to the condition of its women and girls, the Washington Area Women's Foundation (WAWF) supports local organizations working to help women and girls achieve economic independence and fulfilled lives. The Foundation also focuses on women as change makers and philanthropists in their community and conducts research on the lives of women and girls in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area.

| My personal message: |
Every year the Washington Area Women's Foundation supports dozens of partner non proifts in the Washington DC metro area, through grant making, leadership development and advocacy support.
Since 1998 we have provided over $4 million of grants to local non profits, have helped over 50,000 improve their economic security, and engaged hundreds of new, powerful women philanthropists.
I am currently raising funds to pilot a more girl-focused grantmaking program and would like to count you among the "angel investors" in this new program.
Check out the work of the Washington Area Women's Foundation.
I hope you are inspired to help.
Donna
