Big Brothers Big Sisters is a volunteer organization that provides children support, guidance, friendship and fun by matching them to adult role models. Founded in 1927, our mission is to enrich, encourage and empower children to reach their highest potential through safe, positive one-to-one mentoring relationships. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves this mission through a professional staff that carefully works with both the volunteers and the children to ensure that the experience of Big Brothers Big Sisters is one that is dynamic, fulfilling, memorable and fun for both the child and the volunteer.
Friends, Family:
Thanks so much for visiting my website! Please read this - I'm not going to ask you for much, I promise :) !
As many of you know, I had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors of the Make A Wish Foundation of North Texas for six years (a few years ago). After taking a few years off to watch my own kids grow up a bit, I've decided to get back into the service mode.
This month, I joined the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Texas. As most of you know, Big Brothers Big Sisters enriches, encourages and empowers children to reach their highest potential through safe, positive mentoring relationships. The agency's model of one-to-one relationships has a direct impact on the children served. This proven success in creating safe, positive friendships translates into more confident children, healthier families and stronger communities. As you may have guessed, there are substantial costs involved in matching kids with safe and reliable mentors (marketing, recruiting, background checks, interviews of the child's parent, the child, the prospective "big," training, etc.). In reality, it costs the organization more than $1,000 for each match made. Can you believe that there is actually a long waiting list for the kids to be matched with a big brother or sister?!!!
Please, let's help give all kids a chance. These kids and their families are reaching out for help, support and guidance. They want their kids to be safe and happy. Since this is my first project for BB/BS, I'm starting out small. If you would, please donate $20, or maybe $50, towards our effort to get kids off the waiting list. No kid should have to wait in line for a helping hand.
Thanks so much for considering this request.
Best,
David
