Mission:Manifesting God’s grace and truth, Caris seeks to significantly decrease the number of lives harmed by abortion in Cook County by empowering women and youth with relevant information, relational counseling and practical resources, so they can make informed decisions.
Commitment: We believe God has compassion for both the woman and child involved in an unplanned pregnancy, so we are committed to valuing both. We commit to providing a safe, welcoming environment for women to receive free professional services including a pregnancy test, ultrasound exam and counseling.
Counseling - We recognize the complex set of issues surrounding unplanned pregnancy. Based on our research, a woman may have feelings of isolation, panic or shame. We look to walk alongside each woman, expressing grace and truth regarding her options. Being part of her decision making process, we look to offer each woman the information she needs and the comfort she wants.
Connection - We know that two top reasons women give for choosing abortion are a lack of practical resources and lack of emotional support. We believe the community working with Caris can be part of the solution to abortion by serving pregnant and parenting women in need. We believe in continuing care – connecting women to a support within Caris and to a larger network of community resources provided by local agencies, church partners and individual supporters.
